QuickBooksQuickBooks is series of accounting software that was developed and being marketed by Intuit.

Most small business owners make use of QuickBooks to handle business processes that has to do with finance. Some of the processes include the following:

  • sales receipt entry
  • monitoring expenses
  • preparation and sending of invoices
  • monitoring of sales tax and payment
  • report generation and preparation of financial statements
  • management of inventory

Additional features were included on new releases of QuickBooks software. These features are as follows:

  • remote access capability
  • remote payroll outsourcing and assistance
  • online payment
  • banking online and reconciliation
  • mapping features that is integrated with Google Maps
  • Google marketing options
  • Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook for better e-mail functionality

QuickBooks Online Edition allows users to use the software by paying a monthly fee and then enering personal login info. Intuit stores the personal data of each user and upgrades and provides necessary patches for the software automatically. Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Safari supports QuickBooks Online Edition. It can also be accessed through an iPhone application.

Though, there are features of the desktop version of QuickBooks that are not available online such as purchase orders, inventory and bill payment online. These features will only become available through third-party add-ons.
